As a Christian writer, my faith and creativity form a powerful weapon. It’s the one thing that sets me apart from other writers and allows me to create unique and engaging stories that capture the attention of readers. However, with creativity comes a battle that every writer must face – the creative fight.

The creative fight is the constant struggle creatives go through to tap into their creativity and produce quality content. It's the internal battle between the desire to create something great and the fear of not being good enough. Or in contemporary times, productive enough. Honestly think it’s what induces writer's block, but I can’t speak to that yet because as a new writer, I’ve never had it.

But the first step to winning the creative fight is to acknowledge it. Understand that every writer struggles with their creativity, and it’s okay to feel stuck or uninspired. The key for me is to not give up and reinforce my creativity. I do this by keeping to a schedule and micro habits.

Scheduling is obvious, but what do I mean by micro habits? Small, like the Nanolix in my upcoming novella, micro habits are bite-size blocks of time that creatively pressure you to get something done. I did this when I started writing and it not only made me productive but more creative because I do my best work when I’m under pressure.

Additionally, surround yourself with other creatives. Join a writing group or attend writing conferences to connect with other writers and gain inspiration from their work. My favorite and probably the most unique in this space is the Jerry Jenkins Writers Guild (Start Here - The Jerry Jenkins Writers Guild (jerrysguild.com). It’s a paid source, but there are many free resources there as well.

Finally, remember why you started writing. What drives you to create? Whether it’s a passion for storytelling or a desire to share your unique perspective with the world, hold on to that motivation and let it drive your creativity. Mine is to tell stories that glorify God and fulfill the Great Commission, and my supply in this mission is endless. Endure and outlast.
